अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय (एएमयू) भारत के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित और ऐतिहासिक शैक्षणिक संस्थानों में से एक है। इसकी स्थापना 1875 में सर सैयद अहमद खान द्वारा मोहम्मडन एंग्लो-ओरिएंटल कॉलेज के रूप में की गई थी। यह संस्थान 1920 में एक केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय के रूप में स्थापित हुआ। यह उत्तर प्रदेश के अलीगढ़ शहर में स्थित है और अपनी शैक्षणिक उत्कृष्टता, सांस्कृतिक विविधता, और ऐतिहासिक योगदान के लिए विश्वभर में प्रसिद्ध है।
एएमयू की स्थापना का मुख्य उद्देश्य भारतीय मुसलमानों को आधुनिक शिक्षा से जोड़ना और उन्हें समाज में सशक्त बनाना था। सर सैयद अहमद खान ने महसूस किया कि भारतीय मुसलमानों को पश्चिमी शिक्षा और विज्ञान के महत्व को समझना चाहिए। उन्होंने शिक्षा को सामाजिक और आर्थिक प्रगति का माध्यम माना। इस उद्देश्य से उन्होंने एक ऐसी संस्था की नींव रखी जो धार्मिक और आधुनिक शिक्षा का समन्वय कर सके।
1920 में एएमयू को भारतीय संसद के एक अधिनियम द्वारा केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय का दर्जा दिया गया। यह संस्थान न केवल भारत बल्कि विदेशों के छात्रों को भी उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली शिक्षा प्रदान करता है।
