केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (Central Pollution Control Board – CPCB) भारत सरकार की एक प्रमुख संस्था है, जो पर्यावरण की सुरक्षा और प्रदूषण नियंत्रण के क्षेत्र में कार्य करती है। इसकी स्थापना वर्ष 1974 में जल (प्रदूषण निवारण और नियंत्रण) अधिनियम के अंतर्गत की गई थी। बाद में इसे वायु (प्रदूषण निवारण और नियंत्रण) अधिनियम, 1981 के अंतर्गत भी कार्य सौंपा गया। यह संस्था पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय के अधीन कार्य करती है।
मुख्य उद्देश्य और कार्य:
CPCB का मुख्य उद्देश्य वायु, जल और ध्वनि प्रदूषण की निगरानी करना, उससे संबंधित नीतियों का निर्माण करना और उनके प्रभावी क्रियान्वयन में राज्य प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्डों की सहायता करना है। यह बोर्ड देश भर में प्रदूषण की स्थिति का आंकलन करता है और समय-समय पर रिपोर्ट जारी करता है।
इसके प्रमुख कार्यों में शामिल हैं:
- वायु और जल की गुणवत्ता की निगरानी करना।
- प्रदूषण नियंत्रण हेतु तकनीकी सलाह देना।
